Image Data Handling Unit

Product details

Image Data Handling Unit

A unit that compresses, stores, encrypts and encodes, in real-time, the image signal (high-speed, large-capacity data) received from the satellite sensor and send the same information to the ground station.

It is non-volatile memory-based and implements high-capacity, high-speed processing technology by adopting flash memory-based next-generation core element for space applications. Comparing to a conventional product, it weighs only one-third with the storage capacity increase by 6 x.

Non-Volatile Memory

It is the first Korean non-volatile flash memory-based image storage with greater storage capacity and ability to retain stored data even when power is removed.

High-Speed Data Handling

It processes satellite image at a high speed by parallel computing using the next-generation core device for space.
Fast encryption and encoding techniques support high-speed data transmission and reception, maximizing total transmission data volume for a very limited communication duration with the ground station.

Large Capacity, Compact Size, Low power consumption

Designed for medium-sized satellites, it features large capacity of 1.5 Tb, compact size and lightweight of 15 kg. Its power consumption is only 75 W - the best-in-class within the same category on a global level.

Price Competitiveness

Lumir has successfully localized the main unit of the satellite payload - the image handling unit. Developed in-house, IDHU achieved a higher level of performance at a significantly reduced cost.
