SATELLITE ONBOARD SYSTEM

MCSAR

Multi-Channel SAR

Product details

Multi-Channel SAR

A multi-purpose payload capable of operating at various frequency bands for next-generation satellites. The instrument acquires information in three bandwidths (C, X and Ku-band) simultaneously. The SAR observes the surface conditions of objects, the scatterometer mode detects climate and environmental change, the altimeter mode measures altitude, and the radiometer is used for sea surface temperature and salinity observation.

Simultaneous Use of Multiple Frequencies

Electromagnetic waves’ penetration depth is associated with wavelength. Therefore, even for the same region of interest, different image information is obtained according to which frequency has been used.

Multi-channel SAR obtains information in three bandwidths (C, X, and Ku band) simultaneously. Depending on the operation mode, multi-Channel SAR obtains various information including temperature, moisture content, surface topography, and altitude.

Deployable for next-generation SAR Microsatellites

By using RTG4 FPGA, multi-channel SAR payload is compact and lightweight that it can be mounted on 100 kg-class small SAR satellites. It performs multiple tasks on a single SAR and maximizes utility of platform.

Wide bandwidth, High-Resolution Observation

Electromagnetic wave bandwidth and range resolution are inversely proportional. Lumir’s multi-channel SAR generates up to 300 MHz chirp signals from each channel and provides high 1 m spatial resolution images.

Data from each band is transmitted at maximum speed of 6 GSPS, compressed and sent to the storage.
