SATELLITE ONBOARD SYSTEM
CMG Controller
Control Momentum Gyro Controller
CMG Controller
The satellite control momentum wheel is a next-generation satellite control unit included in the Attitude and Orbit Control System(AOCS). This unit replaces the conventional reaction wheel that generates reaction torque for controlling satellite attitude.
CMG Configuration
The control momentum gyroscope consists of the momentum wheel that generates angular momentum, the Gimbal drive motor that changes the direction of angular momentum, the controller that actuates and controls the momentum wheel and the Gimbal motor, and the vibration absorber that reduces the vibration transmitted from the control momentum wheel unit to the satellite.
The controller supplies power to the control momentum wheel unit, and controls the unit according to the commands from the upper system. The controller is composed of a power board assembly, a control board assembly, and a drive board assembly. The power board assembly receives power from the upper-level system, and converts into the power required by the controller and supplies it. The FPGA-based control board assembly controls the motor and collects signals sent to the controller from the control momentum wheel unit as well as analog signals such as controller temperature and current.
Competitiveness
Lumir’s successful localization of CMG controller, which was once 100% reliant on foreign sources, offers better performance and attractive price by making it compact and lighter relative to conventional products. With its radiation-hardened design, Lumir’s CMG controller can be used on Qualification Model(QM) and Flight Model(FM) of the satellites.
